To keep your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) up to date, all HGV drivers are required to complete 35 hours training within a 5-year period. Training can be delivered on the following programs:

• Full course 35 hours – five days
• Split courses of 7 hours – one day training sessions

Our NRI (National Register of LGV Instructors) instructors who are specialists in national and international transport logistics training, will provide you with the competencies and knowledge required in this highly regulated sector.

The Importance of Customer Service

Aims:

The aim of this session is to raise awareness of the importance of customer service.

Objectives:

By the end of this session, drivers will be able to discuss the consequences of poor customer service. They will also be able to identify different types of customers, and the importance of getting to know them.

Reducing Infringements

 

Aims:

To provide a clear understanding of how policies work in conjunction with regulations & to discuss varying company vehicle policies and procedures.

Objectives:

By the end of this topic, drivers will be able to discuss their role and obligations in meeting company policies and procedures.

Vehicle Security

Aims:

Discuss methods of implementing vehicle security & to have a clear insight into how applying common sense and discretion can make a difference.

Objectives:

By the end of this session, drivers will be able to discuss the importance of vehicle security and identify the steps to take to ensure their vehicle and its contents are kept as secure as possible.

Improving Fuel Consumption

 

Aims:

To help identify the ways driving economically benefits you, your employer, and the wider environment.

Objectives:

By the end of this session, you will be able to discuss the advantages of driving in an economic fashion for both yourself and the company you represent. Additionally, you will be able to discuss the planning considerations necessary for an efficient journey.

Dealing With Incidents

Aims:

To introduce drivers to the process for reporting traffic incidents.

Objectives:

By the end of the session, drivers will be able to describe and discuss how to respond to an incident scene, particularly as regards reporting the scene once the incident has been resolved.

Daily Driving Challenges

 

Aims:

To refresh and update understanding of the Highway Code and its regulations.

Objectives:

By the end of this session, you will be able to discuss the Highway Code and its relevance to your day-to-day activities as large goods vehicle drivers. Additionally, you will be able to identify the difference between ‘rules’ and ‘advisory’ statements and discuss the consequences of failing to obey rules and follow advice.

Health and Safety

Aims:

To refresh candidates’ knowledge of Health and Safety regulations in the workplace.

Objectives:

By the end of the topic drivers will be able to identify and discuss key regulations relating to health and safety in the workplace.

The Road & Drivers Hours

Aims:

To provide you with an accurate and up-to-date understanding of the intricacies of the EU drivers’ hours rules.

Objectives:

By the end of this session, you will be able to discuss and recall the EU rules regarding breaks, driving limits and rest periods.

Manual Handling

Aims:

To enable drivers to safely lift, carry and set down items whilst using the correct PPE in their workplace environment.

Objectives:

By the end of this session, candidates will be able to demonstrate safe and effective lifting, carrying, and setting down techniques appropriate to their workplace.

Road Freight Compliance

Aims:

The Aim of this session is to provide up to date information regarding driving licences to help maintain compliance with driving licence standards.

Objectives:

By the end of this topic, you will be able to discuss and recall important licence categories, medical standards requirements, penalties and points.
